Women have united across the world so the power of gathering was felt but what was lacking?  Same as in the Occupy Movement.  It is movement with no direction.  Ironically the numbers were so large that they couldn’t march.  Really?  When an army advances this never seems to be a problem.  In fact, this is an advantage!

It was the glaring lack of inspiring, lucid direction in the speakers!  Of the women that spoke supposed leaders of the ‘movement’ that didn’t get to go anywhere but DID identify presence were Gloria Steinem, Madonna, Ashley Judd, and…. Tamika D Mallory.  Who?

To ensure that the march was led by women of differing races and backgrounds, Vanessa Wruble, co-founder and Head of Campaign Operations, brought on Tamika D. Mallory, Carmen Perez and Linda Sarsour to serve as National Co-Chairs.

Tamika Mallory is a political organizer and former executive director of The National Action Network, a not-for-profit, civil rights organization and a nationally recognized civil rights leader and anti-violence advocate.

She hit the nail on the head in 2-1/2 minutes “…you are marching against oppression which for some of you is new …. welcome to my world!”  That’s right – it’s not about one man.  It’s about the rights and civil liberties of ALL coming under threat.  We are finally realising that oppression is a very real thing now facing us all.  Well the people from the margins; the brown, black and socially/economically depressed people of America have been living with oppression every day.

Time to focus this fight. Trump wrote on his Twitter personal account: “Watched protests yesterday but was under the impression that we just had an election! Why didn’t these people vote? Celebs hurt cause badly,” Thing is they did vote.  Twice in my lifetime I have seen a President who was not popularly elected placed at the head of Government.  We can do better than this.  By focusing the power of our words in the moment not after the fact.  Sadly, the best speech of Hillary Clinton’s campaign was her concession speech.  Why weren’t these marches happening to support the people of Flint Michigan when it first came to light their water was poisoned?  Or when Bernie Sanders was winning state after state and the DNC put their finger on the scale and arbitrarily chose their candidate based on a backroom deal.  Instead delegates walked out with tape over their mouths.

The body needs a head.  Direction can be found by looking to the margins –they have been surviving and watching us main streamers all this while.  That is exactly how and why Trump won over life-long Democratic and moderates from the underclass.  Well chosen, albeit course and brutally hateful, words.

Watch Tamika’s Speech.

Be evangelized and focused.  Never underestimate the power of well chosen words and a well constructed, powerfully spoken SPEECH.
